About MPS


Missouri Press Service, Inc. (MPS) was created in 1954. MPS is a business organization whose primary objective is selling and placing advertising into member newspapers. With its One-Order, One-Bill, One-Check system, MPS can quickly and efficiently place advertising in one, several or all of its member newspapers.


Mark Nienhueser

Advertising Director

Mark Nienhueser, who has worked in sales and advertising for 25 years, is the advertising director for MPS and is the project lead for MPS’ 2015-2016 RJI institutional fellowship, which is focusing on creating and testing revenue-generating digital services that smaller newspapers could provide to local merchants.

Nienhueser holds a marketing degree from the University of Central Missouri.

He resides in Jefferson City, Missouri, with his wife Paula and their two daughters. Nienhueser enjoys reading, playing golf and watching/listening to business shows like those on CNBC.

Advertising Placement/Graphic Designer

Jeremy started working at Missouri Press Service in August of 2013 as the graphic designer. He had 5 1/2 years newspaper experience prior to working for MPS as the graphic designer for the Fulton Sun and 3 years experience as a graphic illustrator for Graphic World in Maryland Heights, MO. As of January 1st 2015 he has combined his graphic design position with the advertising placement position for Missouri Press Service and places client advertising into Missouri and out of state newspapers.

Lauren Kliethermes

Lauren Kliethermes

Digital Media Specialist

Lauren Kliethermes began working at the Missouri Press Service June 1, 2015 as the digital media specialist. Her duties include managing social media accounts, sending notices and releases via email programs, uploading advertisements to the Online Ad Network and managing accounts payable for the MPS online and digital side.

Lauren grew up in Tipton, Mo. She graduated in May 2015 from the University of Missouri in Columbia with a bachelor’s degree in science and agricultural journalism with an emphasis in strategic communications.


Ted Lawrence

Business Development

Ted Lawrence is a business development representative for Missouri Press Service with 15+ years of advertising sales experience. Ted came to the Missouri Press Association after 10+ years as Advertising Director for Community Publishers, Inc., (now Phillips Media).

Ted graduated from Augustana College with a BA in Speech/Communications. He currently resides in Nixa, MO, where he is married to his wife Vicki. They have four children and two grandchildren.
